not so bleh-ish anymore

yay. my NM5204 presentation is FINALLY OVER.

and my proposal deadline is pushed back to the 15th instead of the 8th. i love my prof!:)

although that will gimme abt a week left to my first paper. I HATE EXAMS!!

and i have stupid CS2250 test this friday. which i still have tons of readings left btw. boooooooooo.

yesterday was a GROSS day. i think it was an accumulation of the stress that i was getting from trainings and studies.

it's times like that i'm thankful for jeremy. although i think i traumatized him by bursting out in tears in the middle of our conversation over the phone.

"are YOU crying???"

"NOooooooooooooooooooooooooo. it's fluuuu" *sniffles*

"don't blufffffffffffff!!"

hur hur. i thought that was pretty funny. boohoo.i have exposed my vulnerability.
i feel so...........vulnerable.

haha. ok i'm being spastic.

but i did feel better after crying. although it would have been better if he was physically there for me to hug. i like being hugged when i'm down. makes me feel that everything will be fine again. it feels alot better than virtual hugs or kisses. (duhhhh.)

talking about virtual,we were discussing about virtual reality in class today. and my prof was saying how virtual reality these days are no longer governed by just technical aspects, but more of a user's experience.

for example, reading a book like Harry Potter can be considered a virtual reality because you find yourself immersed in the plot whereby once u start, u can't stop. this of coz has to do with the concept of being socially present in the story. so this idea of 'being there' constitutes as virtual reality.

btw i really hate Harry Potter. i don't understand the hooha over it. i haven't watch a SINGLE harry potter movie and i never will.

ANYwaayyyy, somehow i don't really agree about the user's experience point of view. if that's the case almost anything can be considered virtual reality wat. all u need is some vivid imagination to transcend yourself into another world. does that mean day dreaming can be considered virtual reality too? the fact that u stop paying attention in lecture is because there's some form of escapism from the real world into a world of your own.
and when u're in that world of ur own, u're socially present in that world cos ure like, there. does this equate to virtual reality? abit dumb sia.

can u imagine, the next time when ur tutor catches u for day dreaming, instead of telling u to STOP DAY DREAMING IN CLASS!! he says stuff like STOP CREATING A VIRTUAL REALITY!!

doh.

that sounds really really spastic.

i still feel that virtual reality should involve technical aspects. if virtual reality relies on the concept of presence, when u compare presence felt online vs offline, won't the online one be much stronger?

ok that's quite confusing.

let's say u play SIM city online. u create ur own little story and characters. compare this to an offline role-playing game like polly pocket or lego, where u create ur own little story and characters out of the figurines.

if we wanna bring in the idea of presence into these 2 scenarios to illustrate the concept of virtual reality, doesn't the SIM city one makes more sense? the graphics are alot more vivid plus there's audio to intensify the 'virtual' experience.

ok i feel like a nerd talking about school stuff. anyway my point is, i think virtual reality should always involve technical aspects. it doesn't make much sense to take away the technical variables and still call it virtual reality. i mean the whole idea of it in the first place is coz it's a simulation of real life settings. and for simulation to take place (in order to have immersive capabilities or sensory inputs by the user) it would be pretty necessary for technical variables or mediated offerings to be present.

right?

ok i better stop before it becomes an essay.

STUDYYYyyyyyyyyyy!!
