2005.....

ok i'm a little slow coz it's like the 2nd day of 2006 already and 2005 is like history. but it has been a rather eventful year for me in terms of r/ships and canoeing. studies, erm, still quite normal la. i won't say i've been slacking but i'm not exactly nerding away also. i think all through my academic life i study enough to scrape through. ok maybe not scrape but at least enough to go on to the next decent academic level. i'm pretty glad it's my final sem (HOPEFULLY). i think i'm staying on more for canoeing than for honours and i'm glad i did coz this year saw more medals rolling in than my past 4 years of canoeing combined. plus i had a couple of opportunities to compete overseas. of coz my friends played important roles too but i shall come to that later. err the photos are pretty tiny but u can click to enlarge.

Significant events in 2005:

that was IVP in march. i think me n nio got a bronze for k2 500m. that was like my first medal for NUS canoeing since i joined in yr 2. so it was pretty exciting for me. our coordination is like how pretty! :)

this was National Canoeing Championships held in end July at Macritchie. ok i think b4 this i had 2 more competitions but i couldn't find photos for it. if i'm not wrong it was MR500 and Nationals Women Kayaking Championships. those 2 events were pretty significant too. got my first k2 500m gold with nio for MR500! but there were like only 3 boats in the race la hur hur. Nationals Women had more challenging competitors la. i think i got k2 250m gold with nio and k1 250m bronze. my first individual medal! how excitinggggg. i'm not much of an individual paddler so i was pretty happy with the results even though it was like only bronze.

anywaaaaaay, NCC was like even cooler la coz i got gold for k2 500m and 10km and a stupid silver for k2 250m. dammnnn. ok but i shall not be greedy. just look at me and nio grinning away! we are like how zai. wahahhaha. ok kidding. but we did train pretty hard during the 3 mths break. instead of working we were like training twice a day. that pretty much marked the start of my canoeing craze in 2005. and it was during this period that i joined the marathon national team too. errr for canoeing laaa, not running. hur hur. shit i realized how black i look in the photos. no wonder cab drivers keep mistaking me for a malay.

this was...Putrajaya! competed under NUS against the malaysians. this was the start of me skipping schools for my overseas competitions. but it was worth it la. first overseas experience. got a gold for T2 (freaking heavy boat. GROSS.) marathon and k2 500m. yay. look at me and nio grinning away again. the photo's abit smaalll though but i can assure u those 2 on the highest platform is us. i mean, just look at how skimpily dressed we were next to the tudung-clad malaysian paddlers.

and yup, my second time skipping school for the marathon World Champs held in Perth! ok this wasn't under NUS but supposedly representing S'pore la. this was uber funnn. the weather was like how cooling. but training and competing there is not funny at all. the water's freaking freezing and everyone looks gigantic. results were not fantastic though but that's pretty much expected coz we were competing against paddlers who were olympians can. SCARYYY. but definitely an eye-opener experience.

and who can forget the big hooha during River Regatta when the NUS canoeists beat the dragonboaters. 4th out of 44 boats that took part! plus we beat the IVP champions. ok i didn't skip school for this but i had 3 papers right after the weekend that regatta took place. i'm CRAZY i tell u. no wonder my results this sem were so gross. but i had fun la. i wouldn't mind doing this again. hee. (jen are u listening? wahahaha)

finally... Asian Canoeing Championships in KL. this was representing S'pore too and it took place right after the exams. oh and Round Ubin too. which i can't find photos too. and yay me and nio got gold again for Ubin :) i love u nio!! we da best righhhhttt?hahah too bad this is my last sem. u're on ur own already. boooo.

anyway, ACC was also another eye-opener. Unlike the world champs in perth where we were up against ang mohs, this was against the asians (duh), so most of them are our size. eerrr except the China paddlers. the female and male paddlers look the same to me. they're like damn tall la! it was quite traumatizing using the higher-end boats but it definitely glides better. plastex rawks man. compared to our sting rays and tigers. eeee. we didn't do fantastically well. 6th position i think for our marathon event. out of...8 boats? haha. yay we beat India and Malaysia. ahah. no biggie la.but it was fun :)

ok that pretty much sums up the significant events in 2005. ya lar it's all canoeing. but my life does revolve around canoeing. going out with me must like book in advance coz my usual replies are "cannot la, got training". hur hur. but i didn't regret a single bit :) i'm pretty much proud of my achievements and i think i shall concentrate more on my studies for my final sem. but say only la. i might just end up spending more time in the canoe than with my books. hurrr.

of coz 2005 wasn't just about canoeing. let me present to u the pple who made a difference in my life and made 2005 a much more fulfilled year for me.

Significant peeps in 2005:

first on the list, the people in NUS canoeing team!! u guys raawwwkkk my world maaaaaan. u da bestttt!! in the words of belle, i heart u many many!!! :) the freshies are missing in the photo but fiona, peiying and yihui, u noe i love u guys too! and erm, enping and wenzhao too! and bokkai!! ok i hope i'm not missing anybody but i love u peeps! these are the people who made a trip down all the way to KL to support us for ACC. how sweeet right!!! *tear drops*. and the times we had in the chalet. NUS team foreverrrrrr!! haha. *muakz*

in case these people think i've forgotten u, i haven't ok!!! my Bitches in Arts fac whom i've spent the past 3 yrs in NUS with. sadly, there's only me, char and yoke left and we hardly see each other. except for char la. but anyway, i really miss u people! i miss our bitching sessions in the arts canteen and how we can spend hours just gossiping and bitching and laughing really loudly like we owned the canteen. how fuuuuun. and who can forget how screwed up we all were in our r/ships. all at the same time somemore! it's like damn freaky la. names like ah sun, keen, wenfeng, calistus, 7 year itch, tim, kenny and alan were like frequent topics in our bitching sessions. sighhhh. i really miss those times man. the ups and downs of our r/ships that we been through together. i miss u peeps!!! sorry for the pathetic photo. dat's the best i can find. hee. it was one of our bbqs at quek's hse.

and of coz my AC dudes. i miss our weekend-ly outings doing stupid things and our gatherings during festive occasions. ok we still have those gatherings but the number is diminishing. we've seen through one another's old and new bf/gfs, drunk moments, heartbreaks and heartaches, birthday celebrations etc. i love u peeps to the max. AC rawwkkkss too! 2AA2 (plus extras like paul, dom, liyan, lam and keen) never fails to keep me entertained when i'm out with them :)

errr no that's not jeremy. that's Low Keen, my ex bf of 4 yrs 1 mth before it ended. he was rather siginificant coz he WAS part of my life for a pretty long period of time and it was in the year 2005 that saw the fairytale ending. it was quite a traumatic period for the both of us when things started turning sour in january before it officially ended in june. but i'm glad he found someone in his life :)

and finalllllly, the person who've been so supportive and encouraging and comforting through my emotional turmoils...meet the boyfriend..... Jeremy Sun Ming fa!!! haha. ok spastic. like u don't know already. and this photo was taken even before we got together but we already look so compatible horrr. haha. it's been only 4 mths but he has already seen my unglam moments, my tantrums and tempers, my brattiness, my moodiness and all the horrid things about me. but at the end of it it's nice to hear that he still loves me all the same (awwwwwwww)

but that's not to say that i'm horrid all the time laaaaa. i'm nice to him too. u can ask him (QUICK JEREMY TELL THEM I'M NICE). hur hur. love u loads baby! thanks for being so patient and tolerant and making me laugh with ur silly antics :) so adorableeeeeee.

ok i hope i'm not missing anything. hopefully 2006 will be a better year for me. and for everybody out there tooooo! :)

oh man i need to get started on my proposal. I HATE SCHOOL!!!
