so anyway, our nat team got a new coach today. FOREIGN COACH leh. from Bulgaria okaayyyy DON'T PRAY PRAY. and he helped myanmar won some SEA games medals or something too. FWAHHH.
like, whatever man.
ok i have nothing against the new coach. but he gives me bad vibes. and i miss graham, my previous coach. boohoooo. sometimes i wonder what's with the FWAHHH factor of a foreign coach. is it just cos we need somebody to push us? or is it the sterotypical impression that foreign talents are always better. the fact that the 2 words foreign talent comes together so comfortably shows the typical assumption that anyone who's non-local (preferably ang moh-ish) is always better. *roll eyes*
today was ONLY my 2nd encounter with him, but probably the gazillion times that he'd mentioned how skinny and small i was for a canoeist. i feel like telling him:
THEN HOWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW????
i mean, what does he want me to do?!! saying it gazillion times is not gonna make me shoot up 10cm and put on 20kg overnight. yes, i'm currently tipping the scale at a featherweight of 44kg and he said a suitable weight for a female canoeist would be 65-68kg.
siao. for my height to be that weight, i'll look really stumpy. and i don't really wanna be 68kg. that's like 2 kg short of jeremy's weight!! i'm like 158cm and jeremy is 181cm!! how can i be almost his weight!!! IS HE SIAO OR WHAT.
and then he tells us about the training progs that he had with the myanmar team. something along the line of 3 times a day, for 7 days (WTF?!). and of cos he adds on that these paddlers are professional and they have no school.
diao~
if i had no school, and train 3 times a week for 365 days, i think i'll naturally get faster also wat. unless i'm like damn loserish la.
which makes me wonder, is it really necessary to have a foreign coach? i mean, a coach is good, to guide us, to push us, to set for us appropriate training programs. but the rest is entirely up to us, i dun think the nationality of a coach makes much of a difference.
then again, that's my opinion. i still miss graham. yes, he's like australian, but that's not why i like him as a coach. it's because he cares for us, encourages us all the time and gives each of us undivided attention. even when we have our off days and feel slow, he pushes us and tell us well done because he noes we gave our best. and he bothers to CONNECT with us. not go on and go abt how skinny we are. he gives us....................HOPE.
ahhaahhaha ok maybe i'm being drama. maybe i'm judging too quickly. but whatever, my canoeing career is ending soon so i shall not bother with this so called foreign talent.
i can't wait to start work (OMG did i just say that?!) and start on something new. earn money and work towards my future! i wanna get married at fullerton lor. hahahaha.
ok sleep. training at 7.30am tmr (WTF.)
