of late, i've been pretty much a hermit, doing nothing except work and coming home to spend some time with my family. and probably a sprinkle of quality time with mimi in betweens. even with 2 hours lunch break, i would choose to come home.

surprisingly, i'm not complaining too much of this boring lifestyle, and in fact, these quiet times have gotten me thinking on all sorts of random things, whether from observing, hearing, or simply just first hand experience.

i realized friends come and go, but the love and support i get from my family (or even mimi) is unconditional, or shall i say, in mathematical terms, infinite. i know of some friends whom i've gotten close to, but once i get busy, i stop hearing from them too. and i'll be thinking to myself do i always have to make the first move to keep the friendship? it doesn't take more than 5 secs or even 5 cents to just ask how things are. on the other hand, busy or not, my family still asks about my daily activities.

and then i've met people who can take things so lightly, i'm appalled they don't realize the seriousness of it. i've come across people who make statements like:

"i drink so much i think i got liver cancer already"

or

"u're so dumb i think u got brain cancer"

like wtf? has cancer these days being treated like an ordinary cough/cold/fever that it can be easily cursed upon oneself or on others? it's as though saying i've got a fever is no different from saying i've got cancer. trust me, if u're diagnosed with the latter you'll regret for life for the self-fufilling prophecy.

and there's also the:

"i hate my mother/father/grandmother/grandfather i wish they will just die/choke to death/drown/get knocked down by cars "

well, i've got nothing to say about these people. they should just choke and die themselves. if there's one thing i hate, it's ingratitude.

i've also often wondered about cliche statements like:

"all things happen for a reason."

what reason? i don't see what good reason will come out of a loved one being diagnosed of a terminal illness.

don't get me wrong, i'm not questioning my religion. but more often than not, i really, really can't comprehend the reasons for certain things happening in my life. maybe i'm just daft. since i'm selective in hearing, i might be selective in my reasoning too.

life sucks at times, but yet the irony of it all is that it's the very same sucky life that made me realized and be thankful for the certain wonderful people i have around me.

i love you, and you know who you are :)

But just in case some pple are as daft as me, yes gao u're one of them and u rawkkk my world. thanks for not failing to call me everyday, be it to gossip, bitch, whine, or simply just to talk :) err but that doesn't mean u bug me 4-5 times a day. ahaha. and liyan for being so wonderfully patient with my outbursts of emo-moments (gao's fault lor). u da best :)

this entry sounds morbidly depressing.

oh, and i've also learnt that ignorance is bliss.

for everything n anything that has happened, i'd choose to make the best out of it.

be it terminal illness, i'm sure experiences like that make us grow as a person and appreciate the things/people around us more.. dont ya think?

in any case i still hope your loved ones stay healthy n become healthy!
