42.195km was PAINFUL.
at least for the last 15km. i've never felt such pain in my legs before.
and surprisingly, i still turned up for work this morning, much to the amazement of my colleagues. hurs.
it was so traumatic that jen and i got depressed towards the last 10km that we decided to boycott standard chartered, adidas and 100 plus, for trying to entice morons like ourselves to join the marathon for the stupid finisher t-shirt. and yes, we started cursing and swearing, and thinking of ways to cheat our way back to the finishing line. how desperate we were. even those so-called inspirational quotes lined up along the route which we thought were funny at the beginning started annoying us towards the end, that we wanted to throw rocks at them.
but thinking back now, it was pretty funny la. HUR.
anyway, a big THANK YOU to jennifer soh for not abandoning me! :) knowing u were in pain too gave me a great sense of relief that u're not as inhuman as i thought u were with your legs of steel. wahahah. but it was really hilarious the way we were limping, with your bow-legged walk or whatever u call it, or how we looked as though we just gave birth, and that ah peks were walking much faster than our supposedly brisk walk, the guy in skin-colored boxers that was soaked in sweat, how every km just seemed longer and longer and we think tt stand chart was trying to cheat us of the distance, admitting repeatedly how stupid we were to join the marathon just for the t shirt, getting depressed over shortage of powergels and leftover unripe bananas, complaining about the weather, bitching about other runners, sprouting rubbish abt how katie holmes is our role model (she just completed a full marathon recently too. WITHOUT a bra. how on earth??), wishing we were paddling at ubin instead, looking for short cuts back, etc.
and the ultimate was, towards the last 2 or 3km, we saw this guy walking past us, and the back of his singlet was a tag that says " pls overtake me, i plan to come in last for this marathon". GASP. like WTF. we were seriously walking that slowly.
all in all, it was indeed quite a memorable experience. JEN let's do it again next year! HAHAHA. with prior training of cos.
and a big SMOOCH to mimi sun! for waiting under the hot sun for us (ok me, haha) to cross the finishing line. our one and only supporter. SOBSOB. how depressing. stupid jiansheng left for BREAKFAST without us (yes he finished that early). and BEN I DID NOT SEE U!! pig. u were supposed to be our runspirator lor. baahh.
my legs were cramping rather bad that mimi had to piggyback me up and down the stairs back at home, much to the amusement of my dad. hurs. and i had a leg massage too! yay mimi sun rawks. plus he da bao-ed yummy chicken rice from maxwell. double yay. i heart u many many :)
i'm glad it's all over. i shall attempt to start running more. when my legs recover. hurs
